How to choose progressive lenses?

Not all progressive lenses are equal, and price isn't everything: real comfort comes above all from precise measurements. Here's how to choose with confidence.

What changes from one progressive lens to another?

The width of the vision zones (the higher the range, the wider the fields and the smoother the transition) and the treatments (anti-reflective, blue-light filter, hard coating). But even the best lens disappoints if it's poorly centered.

Why measurements matter more than price

A mid-range lens that is perfectly centered and fitted will be more comfortable than a poorly measured premium lens. Pupillary distance, height, angle: that's where most of the comfort is decided. Favour an optician who takes the time to measure.

How long does it take to adapt?

A few days to two weeks depending on the person and the gap with the old glasses. A good adaptation is gradual: wear your glasses continuously the first few days, and have them readjusted if anything feels off.

Frequently asked questions

Are premium or entry-level progressive lenses better?

It depends on your needs (screen, driving) and budget. A lens suited to your use and well centered matters more than the range. We advise based on your lifestyle.

Can I wear progressives from early presbyopia?

Yes, and starting early makes adaptation easier: since the prescription gap is small, the brain adjusts faster.

Do progressives need a particular frame?

The frame must be tall enough to fit the three vision zones. We check compatibility when choosing.

My old progressives were uncomfortable — is that inevitable?

No. It was most often a centering or height problem. With precise measurements, the experience is very different.
