Your first contact lenses: the guide
Starting with contact lenses can feel intimidating, but with the right guidance you get the hang of it in one session. Here are the essentials to start well.
Inserting and removing lenses without stress
The first few times, you learn the moves with the optician: clean, dry hands, the lens on your fingertip, look straight ahead and place it gently. To remove, pinch delicately. A few tries are enough to be independent.
Care: the golden rule
For non-daily lenses: use only the proper solution (never water), change the case regularly, and respect the wearing time. Don't sleep with them, except lenses specifically designed for it.
Mistakes to avoid
Exceeding the wearing time, swimming or showering with them, keeping lenses that sting or redden the eyes. If discomfort persists, remove them and seek advice. Good follow-up avoids most problems.
Frequently asked questions
Is it hard to insert lenses the first time?
No, it's mostly a matter of habit. We show you the moves and you practise on the spot until you feel comfortable.
Can I sleep with my lenses?
No, except lenses specifically designed for extended wear. Sleeping with regular lenses increases the risk of infection.
How many hours a day can I wear lenses?
Usually 8 to 12 hours depending on the lens and your tolerance. We tailor the recommendation to your eyes.
Lenses or glasses — do I have to choose?
No, the two are complementary. Many alternate depending on activities. Always keep an up-to-date pair of glasses.
